All Hail, the Emperor of China

A man in crutches sat across form me and my boyfriend on the bus this morning on our way to school. He was quiet most of the way there. Right before our last stop, however, he decided to ask us, "Are you two a couple?"

My boyfriend nodded and said, "Yes we are."

The man smiled and replied, "That's very sweet. What are you two studying?"

My boyfriend responded for both of us and said, "I'm studying Computer Science, and she is studying English Literature."

The man listened to this politely then responded, "I am a Chinese American. Before I came here to Hawai'i, my grandfather was the Emperor of China. My father passed away, which means I am the next Emperor of China. I'm waiting until the Chinese government changes and stops being communist so that I can go back and be the President."

I really give it to my boyfriend for being such a gentleman throughout the entire exchange. I truly admire his good nature and how he was able to carry the conversation so well, because this was me during the whole thing:

God bless this place for providing me with so many tests on becoming less judgmental...
